Do you feel guilty because you only worked two hours and spent the rest of the day with your family playing games and watching movies?
Does your family get upset when you put the DO NOT DISTURB sign on your office door because you have client calls?
You’re not alone!
That’s why I say work-life balance is a lie! It’s more of a catch phrase than a way of life. But hope is not lost!
I know it’s hard for you to say “NO”. But it’s a life changing sentence!
Let me share my life lesson that emphasizes the importance of sometimes saying “no”.
I spent years of my life forming co-dependent relationships. I was constantly putting everyone else’s needs and wants ahead of my own in my personal life and in my business.
I was always “on-call” waiting for the chance to take care of someone or to try to solve their problems. I would say yes to things that irritated me and would sacrifice time with my family, my own goals, well-being, and happiness to give people what I thought they needed.
I felt I was taking better care of my family, friends and my clients by doing this. I was really training them not to respect my time.
Sound familiar? Is this you?
Black coffee moment, if you don’t learn to say “no”, you’ll never get any work done or reach that goal of yours. Or, if you do, it’ll be a long, frustrating journey that you probably won’t end up enjoying.
THIS EPISODE IS FOR YOU IF:
1. You want to define BALANCE for your life
2. You want to control where you spend your time
3. You want to create a routine that isn’t overwhelming and is flexible
There are some simple things that you can do to help you work, take care of your family and build your business without being overwhelmed AND without the mom guilt. It’s about work-life balance…but not the 50/50 split you are probably thinking of.
So you’re probably wondering what can you do to find this alignment between your family, your business and your job. The simple solution – you need to set up some boundaries.
What exactly are boundaries?
Boundaries are the guidelines, rules or limits you need to create to identify reasonable and permissible ways for your family and customers to interact with you if they want your undivided attention.
Boundaries are something that we will always have to work on putting in place and sticking to. Most of us did not learn this skill while growing up but in order for us to really get all the things done and not burn out, we need to have boundaries in place.
Always remember this, the people that get mad at you for having boundaries and sticking to them are the ones that benefit the most by you not having them.
That’s why in episode 7 I share some tips to help you determine where you will spend your time, confidently use the word “NO” and find balance that works for you…WITHOUT THE MOM GUILT.
