As a female entrepreneur juggling a multitude of responsibilities, staying motivated can be a real challenge. You’re not alone in feeling this way!
Getting things done can be a real challenge this time of the year. Q3 is basically over and in Q4 we need to be prepping for Q1. Summer is ending and fall is literally right around the corner. Everyone is adjusting to a new schedule and if you really enjoyed stepping away a bit this summer, you can be pretty resistant about getting back into the daily grind.
Our lives have so many moving parts. Our routines get disrupted, and we find ourselves feeling out of sorts so to speak. So I decided to record this episode today because I have not been following all of my routines and because of that, I’m not feeling very motivated. I am a huge believer in practicing self-care every day and that stems from experience. I recently did an entire episode on the power of self-care and I shared some tips to help you make it a priority. Click here to check it out.
But I figured, if I’m struggling with this, you might be too. So, let’s not shy away from this topic.
Reflection: Your Anchor Through the Storm
Have you ever felt like you’re stuck in a slump? It’s a common hurdle we all have to cope with at one point or another. In those moments when we get out of sorts, we start to lose energy, we feel deflated, we question our directions, we question our worthiness and we lose our motivation. And then we feel guilty because we can’t seem to snap out of it!
The first step in overcoming this slump is reflection. Take a moment to look back at your journey up to this point. Make a list of the accomplishments you’ve made, small and big. Then make sure you celebrate your wins, which you have probably forgotten to do. Remind yourself why you embarked on this entrepreneurial adventure in the first place. These moments of reflection serve as your anchor, keeping you grounded and focused.
The truth is motivation comes and goes. So you have to learn how to commit to achieving your goals whether or not you’re feeling motivated that day. The good news is that this is just a temporary mood that will pass.
Self-Care: Fueling Your Entrepreneurial Engine
Our tendency as female entrepreneurs is to make ourselves last on our list of priorities. However, self-care isn’t a luxury; it’s a necessity. When you’re at your best, your business thrives. Allocate time for activities that rejuvenate your spirit, whether it’s a morning walk, indulging in your favorite book, or simply treating yourself to something special. Practicing self-care fuels you which will give your motivation a boost.
Picture yourself drowning in administrative tasks, lost in a sea of spreadsheets and endless to-do’s. It’s a recipe for exhaustion! This is where my expertise comes in. As a seasoned business strategist, I specialize in helping female entrepreneurs identify time-wasting inefficiencies in their back office. I can help you fill the gaps in your back office so you can focus on achieving your goals.
When your business operates like a well-oiled machine, you’re no longer tied to it 24/7. You gain the freedom to enjoy life’s moments while your business continues to thrive. Reflection is essential, but it’s equally important to set new, exciting goals. Goals that motivate you and you leap out of bed each morning, ready to tackle the day’s challenges. By continually challenging yourself and achieving those goals, you not only maintain your motivation but also supercharge it.
So here is the process I use to get back on track when I feel I’ve lost my mojo.
- Write out what you don’t feel like doing
- List 3 reasons you don’t want to do it
- Look at your 3 reasons and ask yourself if you are really being honest and if those are REALLY the reasons (don’t skip this step).
- Write out at least one thing you could do to get motivated again (ie. get a manicure, have a black coffee conversation, participate in a new activity, etc)
- Schedule time in your calendar to do that one thing that will help you move forward.
Then rinse and repeat these steps as needed!
Think of this season as prep time for your spotlight moment. Plant those seeds of success, but don’t forget to check in with yourself. And if you need to, hit pause and step back. It’s about finding a better work-life integration, staying motivated, and achieving your goals, no matter how small the steps may seem.
Rinse and repeat as needed. Motivation may come and go, but commitment to your goals is the real game-changer. If this blog post hit home, and you’re feeling ready to get your motivation back and supercharge your business, let’s chat.
